I am an organic gardener and avid nature lover -- believing in balance and realizing that we are only guests on the planet.  I also keep chickens and am a beekeeper.

We are working towards our own teaching garden where we would not only source a certain amount of our own produce but also offer weekend classes. As one of two (soon to be 3 of 4) certified green restaurants in Dallas we are focused on being green and sustainable.

Connecting City to Farm

Working to connect urbanites to agriculture through:
1) Getting the message out about what Dallas is doing to bridge the nutrition, health and agriculture gaps that exists between neighborhoods throughout our city.
2) Hosting Farm Camps throughout the year. Farm Camp is a 4-day learning adventure for youth from underserved neighborhoods. We travel to a commercial farm in Arkansas and expose our urban campers to ag-related activities and a curriculum focused on a healthy lifestyle.

As an advocate, I work with neighborhoods throughout Southern Dallas to build their capacity for self advocacy - identifying and speaking to needs, as well as how to communicate those needs to the right people inside their communities as well as within City Hall. I also work with UNT Dallas to help connect student volunteers with service projects. I can bring volunteers to help build and maintain community gardens, while also working with neighborhoods to identify their needs and strengths from a "boots on the ground" perspective.

I have been active in community gardening in Dallas for well over a decade. I have started many community gardens in Dallas including the Lake Highlands Community Garden. I am an active market grower selling in many local farmers markets. I feel my real expertise is bringing products to market and closing the sale.

Eric Roberts Health Coaching As a gardener, I would help design, educate and install gardens. Everything from raised bed to patio gardens and/or container gardens. I also am knowledgeable as to how to implement a wildlife and pollinator habitat. I would be willing to help design, educate and install the same.
