A Leader in Sustainability and Environmental Management

The City of Dallas is committed to ensuring that resources are available for future generations, while protecting the quality of life of current residents and the vitality of our businesses today.

In 2004, the City began its work implementing an Environmental Management System that would change the way it does business – looking at the entire cycle of the processes it provides and materials it uses. Through this shift, City staff came to understand that being proactive, rather than reactive, was the smart way to save resources, save money, and save time. These principles laid the foundation for the Environmental Policy.

In 2008, the Office of Environmental Quality (OEQ) and other EMS Departments proudly accepted the first certification of the City’s Environmental Management System to the ISO 14001 standard. This system continues to drive change toward minimizing pollution, eliminating risk, compliance with regulations, and continual improvement.

We are pleased to present the 2022 Environmental Accomplishments Report, based on the objectives of the EMS. The report highlights how the City of Dallas complies with environmental laws and regulations and continually strives to improve our environmental performance.
